  1. Not sure I understand -- did not receive a grant for what? One needs a grant to enter a religious order?

    Great question. One of the biggest problems in the Church today (at least in the Church in America today), with regards to vocations, is the number of young people discerning a vocation to the Priesthood or Religious Life that have large college debts. These debts must be paid before they can enter Religious Life, and in most cases before a Diocese will accept a candidate for seminary. The grants mentioned in the video are to help payoff those college debts.

  3. Ah, ok. Makes complete sense. I was worried that somehow the various orders were demanding cash from applicants, a payment-in-kind for the years of support they'd receive, a kind of 21st-century dowry.
