If you are actively discerning a vocation to the Priesthood, Diaconate, Consecrated Life, or Marriage and you are looking for information to help in your discernment, BE SURE TO CHECK the section at the bottom of the right sidebar for the "labels" on all posts. By clicking on one of these labels it will take you to a page with all posts containing that subject. You will also find many links for suggested reading near the bottom of the right sidebar. Thank you to the Caveman and Fr. Longenecker

Welcome to everyone visiting Roman Catholic Vocations via the "Lair of the Catholic Caveman" and "Standing On My Head". I pray that this site may be of some help to those of you visiting that are also actively discerning Church vocations.

A special thanks to the Catholic Caveman, Vir Speluncae Catholicus, for highlighting this blog on his site, and for permanently linking to it.

Thanks also to Fr. Longenecker for linking to my "Shrinking Catholic Church?" post. Fr. Longenecker wrote an excellent post on the same subject, Vatican 2 and the Shortage of Priests, which I highly recommend that you take the time to read.

Fr. Longenecker makes some very good points in his post about VII and priesthood shortage however he misses a few key things. Take a look at my response in that post. I believe it is fair and well-balanced. It does not embark on the road of the rad-trad nor does it let VII get off scot-free either. I believe there is a collective cause and collective failure that can be attributed to the collapse of Western Civilization and perhaps the whole world.
